Registration 2025/26
The Piano Year begins on Saturday 6 September. There will be a few changes to the lessons this year.

Exams
Piano Adventures now offers online Performance and Theory exams based on their syllabus, providing an alternative to the Royal Conservatory of Music exams. This allows both online and in-person students to experience the motivation and learning boost that comes from taking a piano exam. I will be encouraging all students at Piano Adventures Level 1 and above to take part in either a Piano Adventures exam or an RCM exam. |
Lesson Lengths
This year, lesson length will increase from 40 minutes to 45 minutes, allowing 30 minutes for performance and 15 minutes for music theory. This adjustment ensures all students are well-prepared for success.
Last year, there were thirty-five 40-minute lessons during the school year. This year, there will be thirty-three 45-minute lessons. While there are 2 lessons fewer, the students will actually receive 85 minutes more lesson time due to the increased lesson length.
Lesson Cost
The monthly group lesson fee is increasing from $110 to $112 and is payable for 9 months. Again, no payment will be due in June.
The annual registration fee is $45. The registration fee covers lesson materials, software, equipment maintenance, insurance, MTA recital fees, recital refreshments, rental fees, extra recital practice sessions, treats, prizes, awards and the other things done for the students outside of the lesson.
Music Merits
To keep students motivated, we are launching a Music Merit program where students earn merits for exams, performances, completing songs, quizzes, and memorizing music. Those with the most merits will win exciting prizes. This is our most extensive practice initiative, and I am eager to see the progress it will inspire!
Performances
There will be at least 7 recitals this year, including 2 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Home, 3 with the Music Teachers Association. Online students will be able to showcase their piano progress in the Christmas Countdown Calendar and will also be encouraged (with Music Merits), to take part in talent shows and other opportunities to perform in their local areas.
